Final blog post

This picture shows my attitude toward reading because when I first started reading I liked all kids of book from non-fiction to fiction to mysteries to adventure represented by the large mouth of the cave. but then through the years the kind of books i read got smaller and smaller and i would stick to more war history books like unbroken and fantasy action type books. this is represented by how the path father into the cave gets smaller and smaller. At one point at in the past year i came to a point when i stopped reading because i got really bored of it which kind of made it hard to blog. this is represented by the end of the cave. I have gotten back to reading with the gone series by Michael Grant which my past few blogs have been about. so i accepted teh types of books i read to keep changing and the amount I read will also change.

This picture symbolizes my point of view on blogging because i would always forget about it and do it Monday. I would do the prompt of the best part of blogging and the worst part but the list of the positive is about as long as our country's budget and the negative is about as much debt we have. also i really like this picture because of the grim reapers shadow behind the door because I thought this was going to kill my grade but I don't think that it will.
\Some good thing about blogging is that there is no guide line to it. when I sit down to blog I don't need to look at a format and need to stress about if its right. I can just sit down and write. That's it.
Some things that I did not like blogging would take a while to write about so I am just write about a few. First off i think that its pointless and that its just another grade in the grade book. I also forgot about it for the last minute so i would stress about it, also when I would sit down I hadn't read enough to make a blog so it was hard to make a blog post.

This picture represents my first year as a high school because sometimes i felt that i was left in the dark. Sometimes I wondered why i did something like why the polar bear got on the piece of ice. As a sophomore next year some goals I have for my self are to get my temps and licences, be a starter on our mason hockey varsity team, gets straight A's and finally i would like to take apart and put back together a classic car.
I have grown a lot in the past year in many ways. first off i made our varsity hockey team which was a big step up from my travel team which I also played on this team. On my travel team this year i got assistant captain and was one of the leading scorers and in assists. My writing has also grown a lot from adding in diction and syntax. I have grown a lot of other places but that would take a long time to write about. thanks for a great year. Have a good summer.

Hunger half way point

Hunger is second book in the Gone series by Michael Grant. If you have read my last posts you would know that I like Michael Grants books and especially the first book in the series Gone. this book is a little different.

I would like to start to say what I like so far about the book halfway though the book. One thing that I like is the diction and syntax that he uses. Through all the books that I have read by Grant they all are very different but in each I can see is diction and syntax they he does that makes all his books really good. I also like the way he tells the story. Each chapter has a point of view of a couple of characters which I think is very cool.

The thing about this book that I cant stand is the rate of which it is told. It is really slow. i took me a while to get to the half way point because i just had no interest in reading it which is a big probably for me because the only way i can sit down and read is only if I have a book that get really interesting really fast which this book does not do

So for this book it has its up and down to its writing style but it has a really good story line so you have to decide it the good out balances the bad and if you have any interest in reading it.

Something to remember for Thanksgiving By Mary Schmich

Mary Schmich wants the reader to feel compelled to help those of need who don't have as much as you do and to not look and how little you think you got because later you will see that is was huge. she wants us to remember what you got and be thankful that you're not in poverty.
The purpose of the column was to be thankful for what you have.
Some of the diction and syntax she used was very effective in her piece. one thing she did was having very short paragraphs. this was effect because every time the reader paused to go onto the next paragraph they processed her message which helped her get her point across better. Also she uses high diction words like elated and mystified which is very effective.
This column is a eye opener to out society because its shows us the not do good side of the world. it send a message to society that for the society to get better we need to help the ones that aren't as lucky as we are.
I just watched a movie called "the good lie" which was a great movie but it was about a couple of Sudanese kids journey to Kenya after the civil war killed there parent and tribe. they then make to america and  get jobs. this movie really opened my eyes and encourage everyone to go see it.

End of gone

I have just finished the book Gone by Michael Grant and it was a thriller to the very end. The book is about a town on the California shore where everyone above the age of 15 suddenly disappear. The kids of the town try to keep control as bully's come to power and students from a private school come down and battle for the control. Animals start to mutate into dangerous creature who are another threat to the kids of the town. Also the kids of the town develop powers that include healing any wound by just touching it, moving things with there minds and many other thing. In the end there is a all out war in the town for power with guns, there power, and the mutating animals also come in to play. The end of the book was great and ended with a big cliffhanger. I am going to read the next book in the series called hunger.

I am very excited to read the next book would recommend the series to any 8th or 9th grader looking for a page turning thriller. I would give this book 4 stars and would recommend this book to anyone.

Dover Beach

Mrs. Bowles ran down the street and pulled open her front door, stepped into her house and locked the door behind her. She went to the parlor and sat down with a tears in her eyes.
"Hello" she said to no one
Silence.
"Honey" she said.
no answer, then tom her youngest walked down the hall and passed by without even recognizing his mom.
"what have I done" she whispered to her self.
She got up and went to her room where she went into the bathroom and read the label to her pills and took the whole bottle without knowing. she lay in bed staring at the celling and drifted of to sleep.
She woke up the next morning with a smile, got up and walked to the phone and made a phone call. She got dressed in her usual first date dress and waited. She sat at the parlor watching a dance between a boy and a girl.
There was a knock on the door but Mrs. Bowles did not move. She was fixed on the parlor watching the couple dance smiling at each other, then out of no where a young girl came on to the stage and danced a simple dance. when she was finished her parents came and gave her a hug.
Mrs. Bowles was now crying. She cried and cried remembering her past and what she had done. A door opened down the hall and her son tom came into the room and sat next to her and gave her a hug.
"What's wrong" he asked
"Nothing" she replied "Nothing at all."

Gone

I am reading the book Gone by Michael Grant. so far I really like the book not just because of the writing  style but the story line is really good and grant does a great job keeping the book interesting. the book is about a town where everyone above the age of 15 suddenly disappear and the kids of the town try to keep control as bully's come to power and students from a private school come down and battle for the control. through out the book kids take up the adults like doctors, day care works and so on. like I said before Grant does a great job keeping the plot interesting by introducing new conflicts and new characters.

I am about half way through the book and there are five more books in this series and I love the book. this is the first book I have read by Michael Grant and I already love his writing. The bottom line is I recommend this book to anyone from the ages 10-16 no matter what genre you like.
